Barça destroyed Atletico Madrid tonight with a superb display of attacking football. If in the last two games we had to wait until injury time to seal the three points, tonight the victory was all but sewn up after just ten minutes. Marquez, Eto'o and Messi put Barça 3-0 in just eight minutes and by the half hour we were 5-1 up.

Games between these two clubs have a history of producing high scoring, incident packed games and tonight's clash was no exception. Leo Messi played a blinder and won the battle with Kun Agüero hands down, but the performance of unsung players such as Eric Abidal and Eidur Gudjohnsen was just as pleasing to see.

Two late goals from substitute Leo Messi turned defeat into victory for Barça tonight in Ukraine. From a fan's point of view there is nothing much better than grabbing an injury time winner, so to get two in a week is pretty special. However, the team did not play well and much of that has to go down to the unusual 3-5-2 formation that Pep Guardiola adopted for this game. Shakhtar took the lead just before half time and in the second half Barça struggled to find a way through. It took a bit of luck in the 87th minute as the Shakhtar defence relaxed at a throw in, believing Barça should give the ball back, for Barça to equalize, and then a bit of pure class from Messi for the late late...

With the last kick of the game Leo Messi scored a disputable penalty to give Barça victory in a dramatic derby game which will probably be the last played on Montjuic. Barça trailed for most of the game after Coro put Espanyol ahead after the referee missed a foul on Victor Valdés. Then after a nine minute stoppage in the second half due to crowd trouble Thierry Henry equalized before Eto'o was brought down from behind in the last minute of injury time to give Messi the chance to seal the three points.

Barça won their first league game of the season with a comfortable 1-6 win tonight in Gijon. Sporting were only briefly in the game after pulling a goal back early in the second half but their hopes were dashed by the sending off of Gerard in the 56th minute. Barça began the Champions League campaign with a well deserved 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon at Camp Nou tonight. Barça dominated from start to finish and today managed to convert three of many chances created. Rafa Marquez scored first with a rare goal from a corner, Samuel Eto'o converted a penalty on the hour to make it 2-0, Sporting then pulled a goal back through Tonel, but man-of-the-match Xavi Hernandez settled things a couple of minutes from the end.

With just two games played in La Liga, Pep Guardiola will already be under pressure after Barça failed to beat a well organized Racing Santander at Camp Nou tonight. Barça dominated possession but suffered to break through the Racing defence, and after Leo Messi gave Barça the lead from the penalty spot, Racing equalized with their first shot of the game with just fifteen minutes remaining.

Barça began the new league campaign with a horribly disappointing 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Numancia. Barça never recovered from an early goal from Mario, and as we have seen so many times before, the team lacked patience in the build-up which led to wayward passes and fruitless dribbles. Numancia packed their defence leaving little room for Barça's forwards and when the chances came we were guilty of poor finishing.
